This week we had some visitors in our classroom. Ms. Merryfield and Ms. Bialka from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire were in our classroom. They worked with us this week and will go back to the university for a month. In November they will return and will spend more 4 weeks with us! We had fun working with them. We can't wait for their return! We were excited on Monday morning to learn who would be representing St. Peter School at the Conservation Speaking Contest. In 5th and 6th grades it will be Rebecca, Will, Maria, and Lauren. Everyone did a great job presenting their speeches to the 5th-8th grades last week. The teachers said it was hard for them to choose school representatives. |

In social studies we made posters for various topics. Also this week in art we are working on charcoal cats. Today Fr. Charlie came in and we asked him questions. He had many good answers. This week in science we made clouds out of shaving cream. It was very fun.
This has been a great week. It started off with Ms. Schroeder coming to our class. She is our student teacher for the next 9 weeks! We are so lucky to have her with us. We had the final Geography Bee in the church basement. Also, many students participated in the oral and the school-level Spelling Bee in the church basement. The winners for the Geography Bee were Rachel S. and Paige. The winners for the Spelling Bee were Rachel S, Liz, Gracie, Luke, Peter, and Lexi. The 5th-8th graders went on a field trip to the Ice Age Trail. At the Ice Age Trail, we went snowshoeing. We also held a fox snake, threw a tomahawk, played tug-of-war, and ate hot dogs. Today we are going to McDonell to see the dress rehearsal of Grease. For this week we started out with the written Geography Bee. Later this week we had the oral one. We also started working on some Festival of Nations Project things. In the 6th grade class we are learning about converting length, capacity, and weight in math class. In the 5th grade class we are learning different ways to multiply mixed numbers. In gym class we played a game called uf-ta.
Happy New year! This week as been a pretty normal week. Monday was the first school day of 2016. Tuesday we finally had a normal music class, and for once we had phy. ed. Wednesday nothing exciting happened; well, we had current events. Today, Thursday, we put our mobiles together which we started Monday. Tomorrow, Friday, we have a lot of tests. Finally, tomorrow we have art.
This week on Sunday our class had our Christmas program. It was lots of fun. We have started on our Christmas gifts for our parents. We also practiced singing in the choir for Midnight Mass. We read The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. We get to watch the movie of it on Monday next week, and we are so excited!
This week Mr. Minnich taught the 5th graders multiplying decimals, and Ms. Edmundson taught science. In science we learned about the water cycle. Plus, we did this awesome experiment in which we made a cloud. The sad thing is that this is the block teachers last week. With the Christmas program going on this weekend we've been practicing like crazy. If you have time please come on down to Church at 12:45 on Sunday, December 13 to see an awesome show!
